World Book Day

On Thursday 6th March, The Pop Project came to our school again. We were all so excited! We just love Graham and his band visiting our school. This year they linked their music to books written in the last seven decades. They told us all about their favourite books and music from each era.

All children were allowed to come dressed as their favourite book character. The winners from Year 4 were Ruby-Ann Mathieson and Charlotte Tse. The runners-up were Nathan Cunningham and Louis Johnston. Well done to all children who took part, your costumes were fantastic.

Did you buy a book from our book fair?

Could you write a short book review about your favourite book?

Year 4 Clubs

Uncategorized No Comments »

A Reading Club is taking place every Thursday and Friday dinner time, giving pupils the opportunity to choose and read a selection of recently acquired books. Children are expected to complete a Book Review and share their views with other members of the club.

What book are you reading?

What is the most exciting book you have ever read?

Who is your favourite author?

An Art Club takes place on Monday after school. The children have been designing masks.

What sort of mask have you made?

On Tuesday 25th February, we were visited by two members of the RNLI. They did a short presentation in the hall and the children were invited to join in by holding flags and dressing up. They were also given the opportunity to ask questions about beach safety. Their beach buggy was parked in the playground all day and children were given a quick guided tour of all the gadgets the lifeguards use when on duty at the beach.

What did you think of this visit?

Can you remember what the different flags mean?

Can you remember how to look after yourself when swimming at a beach?

Year 4 Assembly

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

All members of Year 4 took part in our assembly all about the Tudors. We had great fun practising our parts and dressing up as Tudors. Many parents and carers came to watch us. It was really funny when one of our parents walked in as Henry VIII was about to introduce his wives.

What part did you have in our assembly?

What were the names of Henry’s wives?

Can you remember the rhyme?

On Friday 21st March, all the children were invited to bring in a fancy dress costume to change into, to take part in their Sport Relief Mile.

We had some fantastic costumes and brilliant headwear. The only thing we needed was a bit of sunshine! Sadly, it did rain for a short while but this didn’t dampen our enthusiasm. All members of Year 4 completed at least one mile. Some children completed over four miles. Well done!

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Challenge!

We were one of the few schools and organisations across the country to be a winner of this award!

We travelled to London on Friday 4th October, very early in the morning, by train. We were taken to the Lee Valley Sports Stadium where we met David Beckham and Ellie Simmonds.

We took part in some active challenges – and even made our own healthy lunch! Here are Mrs Stallman and Mr Richards with the 5 children who represented our school, with David and Ellie!

We were very tired when we arrived back in Manchester but we had a great day.
